    Save for later

There has been a lot of talk about the decorum—or lack thereof—of partisan Ryder Cup fans over the last several weeks. On one had, their defenders say, they are responsible for the unique, almost college football-like atmosphere of the Ryder Cup. On the other, they too often cross the line, saying things you wouldn’t repeat in a strip club, let alone at a golf tournament. Much of this, of course, has to do with the influence of alcohol, but we have good news for the hand-wringers out there:

With these beer prices, nobody will be able to afford to get drunk at Bethpage Black.

    Get hammered? IN THIS ECONOMY!?

Jokes aside, perhaps this is best brake the PGA of America can pull when it comes to moderating the fan behavior this week. Excluding NA items, the cheapest beers on the menu are $15 pints of Michelob Ultra and Bud Light, which have whopping ABVs of … 4.2 percent. You could step up to the premium suds, but 19.2 ounces of the “good” stuff will run you $19 plus tax and tip (sorry, you have to tip at least a buck, these are the rules). With single-day tickets costing upwards of $750 and the merch tent singing its irresistible siren song, that doesn’t leave much pocket change for getting sloppy with the boys.

Ultimately, that’s for the best. If you’re an adult who’s puking, blacking out or harassing competitor’s wives at a golf tournament, then you’re not an adult at all. That said, if you are looking to get a little extra buzz for your buck, may we suggest the Cherry Fairway Fizz. It’s cheaper than 25 ounces of Michelob water, full of moonshine and is topped with a limited-edition Ryder Cup rubber duck. Europe [SQUEAK] ain’t gonna know what hit 'em.
