“Huge trees lining every fairway, so keeping it in the fairway is a must."

“This is a quality old track that sadly suffers from a lack of maintenance. Think Harding Park before Sandy Tatum stepped in and got it renovated. Overly abundant, overgrown trees, poor quality turf, sketchy bunkers. Tree-trimming, turf maintenance and maintaining sand bunkers is expensive and this publicly-owned course clearly does not have the budget to maintain the course other than the most basic mowing of fairways, tees and greens. Three-quarters of the trees should be removed. The course would be much better and the conditioning would improve dramatically. Carmichael is off the beaten track. This is a course for locals. Unless you have reason to play here, such as an NCGA qualifier, don't come with much in the way of expectations. The bar and restaurant are decent, not exceptional, but good basic golf course grill fare."
