Why We Like It
This is Titleist’s most forgiving and welcoming shape. It features a larger face area and most importantly a unique face-thickness pattern that emphasizes performance on mis-hits. All that is enhanced by the overall larger footprint that makes for the most stable head in the line. The sleeker external lines and curves make that larger shape sail through the air a bit smoother to let players generate more clubhead speed.
Characteristics
- The larger overall size emphasizes forgiveness, but the shape improvements help optimize aerodynamics to maximize swing speed.
- The variable-thickness face design targets players whose misses cover a larger area of the face.
- This model maintains the higher launch of past versions with less spin.
- 8, 9, 10, 11 degrees (with a 16-way adjustable hosel)

Reviews
Just an all-around classic shape. There are no gimmicks—just a simple black dress good for any occasion. A lower, deeper sound with a satisfying feel. I love the control it gives me. Feels like I have the ability to hit the shot I want.
Wei, 54, Handicap: 13Strong-looking club, nothing fancy. Need a decent swing to get the best result, but it's not unforgiving. The sound at impact is muted, but the distance is good. A class act of a driver.
Peter, 56, Handicap: 7I like the traditional, compact look. With the low-profile face, I'm not worried about popping it up. Takes off low and rises without losing distance. The soft, quiet impact is pleasing. A lot of drive to the ball.
Paul, 62, Handicap: 4Definitely a club you'd be excited to hit off the first tee. High marks in weight distribution, sound, and feel in the hands. Smooth as Jordan's shot over Byron Russell to win Game 6. Hitting a higher power fade with this, which is the opposite of my normal piercing baby draw. Would allow the rest of my scramble group to go wild.
David, 56, Handicap: 13I like the clean, simple design of this club. Even the mis-hits had plenty of distance and didn't stray too much directionally. Produced a mid ball flight and a louder sound off the face. Provided good feedback so I knew where I made contact.

Whether you want more distance or a consistent shot shape, you need one skill above all others: the ability to make flush contact with the ball. It’s the No. 1 fundamental in golf, and without it, this game can be an eternal mystery. Here, Sean Hogan, one of Golf Digest’s Best Teachers in Florida, helps you improve your impact with the driver.
