“The Union League of Philadelphia acquired the Liberty Hill Club and Course in early 2021. Since then, the League has progressively transformed the property into a comprehensive member facility, featuring enhanced dining options, overnight accommodations, and extensive renovations. Increasing focus is now being directed toward improvements on the Course itself to elevate the overall golfer experience through upgraded services and amenities. Spanning over 300 acres of rolling terrain punctuated by a strategic ravine, the Liberty Hill Course is notable for both its scale and complexity, particularly under windy conditions. From the championship tees, the Course exceeds 7,400 yards, emphasizing the importance of length and precision. Strategically placed bunkers challenge errant shots, while the expansive greens are designed to accommodate the considerable distances. Many greens are additionally protected by well-positioned bunkers, adding to the difficulty. The intersecting ravine presents a unique topographical element, with some transitions between greens and tees exceeding a quarter mile, which makes walking the Course uncommon. While many holes follow a back-and-forth layout, the persistent wind and length collectively provide a rigorous test for golfers. Give the Union League a few more years to invest n the Course and Liberty Hill will be a more sought after venue to play."

“Course is fun and challenging. Very large quick greens and the entire green can be used for pins on most holes. Solid conditioning greens fairways and bunkers. Plays long. Some notable great holes to challenge golfers - 5, 9, 11, 14, 16 and 18. A couple short par 4s to allow big hitters a hero shot risk reward. All the par 5s are solid golf holes."

“A very demanding golf course with large undulating greens. Bunkering provides direction, challenge and in some cases, punishment. The green complexes have superb contours with collection areas both closely mown, and elevated with fescue. Ball position and shot making are crucial. Large, expansive fairways and approaches provide ample opportunity to challenge each hole. The water features on the course provide challenge as well as drama to the course."

“This course (recently renamed Union League Liberty Hill) has slipped a bit from its peak a few years back. That said, the routing and elevation changes are fantastic and the course is constantly challenging the golfer to game plan their attack on each hole. The greens are quite large, sloped, and run quickly so plenty of 3 putts are possible. The course stacks up as very long, however. With the typical men's tees at just about 6700 yards, it can get a bit frustrating for the shorter hitters and high handicaps."

“Good course but a tough walk between tee and green."

“This Gary Player design is played over some heaving rolling terrain. It is a corporate club and if you are lucky enough to play it, enjoy the wide fairways and inventive greens."
