Overview
Oregon native Dan Hixson has overseen an extensive remodeling of Portland Golf Club, most notably repositioning and rebuilding bunkers to match the understated, classic aesthetic of the 1914 design. Hixson and his team also restored original green sizes to reclaim pin positions—and a tree-removal program continues to improve the agronomics and playability.

“A traditional older course (opened in 1914) with tree-lined fairways that are not too tight but require accurate tee shots. This course hosted the 1947 Ryder Cup and several USGA events more recently (Senior Open, Women's Amateur) and represents a solid test. The greens, in particular, require accuracy and good shotmaking or 3-putts (or more) await."

“Portland Golf Club is steeped with historical tradition (Host of PGA Championship and Ryder Cup) at this pitch perfect club in the Pacific Northwest. The quality of the turf and conditioning is really good which is only going to get better. Dan Hixson will be updating the bunkering and improving drainage to improve the experience, which is already very high to begin with, as strategy is paramount to score. A very strong collection of Par 3's and great uniqueness within the vast majority of holes, as the topography is outstanding, especially on the back nine."

“One of Portland's oldest and most exclusive private clubs. Has hosted several major events. Heavily treed layout with some tight holes and good design variety. The clubhouse is also exceptional. If you can secure a tee time, I would highly recommend trying to play."
