“After recent renovations, which included removal of 500 trees, the links-style playing features of the course have been restored. A short trip from Portland to the most pleasant coastal town of Gearhart to play a fun round of golf on the Links Course is worth the time."

“Gearhart Golf Links (est. 1893) makes this one of the oldest golf courses in America and west of the Mississippi. The course is a true links style, next to the Pacific Ocean. The wind and sand have created some very unique fairways and challenging immaculate greens. This public course was renovated 2013 to 2015 and has a fun Clam Bed putting course and cute, historic Sand Bar (turn shack bar). The club house has 130 years of history with multiple outdoor dining areas for enjoying food and drink. The staff is very helpful and friendly. If you are near the NW Oregon coast, this course is a real treat to play."

“This course has been wonderful restored, with trees removed and the sightlines have really been enhanced. The greens are small, but undulating and firm, the course is playable for everyone, and pace of play is quick. I cannot recommend enough this place as a way point to the Oregon coast. This is a gem that won't be a secret for long."

“Gearhart Golf Links is a wonderful, very enjoyable links-style course just a couple of miles north of Seaside, Oregon about 90 minutes from Portland. As "The Oldest Course West of the Mississippi" (which they've documented), GGL has been recently purchased by Mr. Tim Boyle, CEO of Columbia Sportswear and in doing so, Mr. Boyle has spent considerable amounts of money to restore its original design features. Bunkers have been refined, literally hundreds of pine trees have been removed and recently the tee areas have been rebuilt. In addition, an addtion to the current Lodge/Restaurant (very charming by any standards) is underway and a new building due for completion in 2018 will feature more lodge rooms and an additional golfer's watering hole. Don't visit GGL expecting another Bandon Dunes but this wonderful and affordable links course close to Portland and the resort towns of Seaside and Cannon Beach is a memorable track with reasonable fees and managed by an owner and employees dedicated to making it a remarkable golf destination experience that you will want to visit again and again."
