“Several of the fairways are narrow and at the base of parallel sand dunes. If you miss the fairway on several holes, your ball stays on a steep sand dune covered with fescue that grabs and hangs onto your golf ball. A bit frustrating! The staff was friendly. The golf carts are quite old and outdated."

“Beautiful, fun course. I loved using the wind and slopes to create shots. Allows for many different styles of play. Despite the North South nature of the course between the dunes, they have set up the tee boxes in such a way that you rarely feel like you are asked to hit the same shot."

“If you get a chance to play Astoria, DO IT! This is one of the most unique, fun and interesting golf courses, you will never forget it. Several holes run between natural dunes, #3 feels like you teeing off down a bobsled chute, a few other par 4's are similar. Not overlong but leaving you to decided to hit driver or 3 wood and risk getting caught on the side of a dune in tall grass, meaning you can just chip out. Or hitting an iron or a hybrid to find the fairway and leaving a longer shot into the green. Of course if you really miss on several of the holes and are in the wrong fairway you have a blind shot over a large dune. It sounds more ominous than it is. There are some really good par 3's too. If you are in the Portland area to gold and can get access, it is well worth the drive. I regret that my phone was dead and I couldn't take any pictures."

“Very fun layout requiring the player to negotiate a series of prominent N-S trending dune ridges. The turf is fast and firm June-Sept and is well conditioned; it allows for run-up shots into the greens. A scattering of trees exist, but the course is generally open and offers great views across the property. Two par 5’s are bordered by lakes. Bunkering is modest. A fun course with great character."

“Unique layout that often runs between the sand dunes. There's no other course in the NW quite like it."
