Overview
Just like Turning Stone’s Atunyote course, the Kaluhyat layout was also previously ranked for four years on our 100 Greatest Public list, climbing as high as No. 71 in 2013-14. Unlike the relatively flat Atunyote track, the Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed Kaluhyat course has plenty of elevation changes, including some up to 50 feet. The elevation changes provide many scenic vistas of the surrounding upstate terrain.

“Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 2003, The Kaluhyat Course is one of three upscale championship courses at Turning Stone Resort in Central New York. Definitely the toughest course of the group (and one of the toughest courses in New York), The Kaluhyat wraps its way through swampy marshland and forested area. With plenty of forced carries, lateral hazards, and tricky greens, this course defends par very well but may be too difficult for the average resort golfer, leading to long rounds. There is nice variety here in terms of length and memorability, with particularly memorable holes including the "Channel" 9th hole, monster par 5 11th, and fascinating long par 4 16th with its dropshot approach. Because of how difficult the course is, it scored the highest for me amongst the Turning Stone courses, but all three courses are close and have merit. It is certainly one of the better courses in a relatively scarce golf areas and one of the better public courses in NY."

“Really well conditioned course with perfect bunkers. Very challenging, demanding tee shots required to give yourself angles into multiple greens. Cannot just hit driver on every hole. Greens shape sizes and contours are all wonderful. While green speed is not super important, these greens could be sped up a decent margin to add more challenge."

“The Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design at The Turning Stone Resort is the hardest of the three championships layouts without a doubt. Accuracy is a must as wetlands and other penalty areas coming into play on many holes. Visually, a very beautiful course that is well cared for. Staff is very courteous and welcoming."

“The middle course at this resort, a little more challenge. Good condition."
