Overview
Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar each captured PGA Tour titles at Turning Stone’s Atunyote course when it hosted a tour event from 2006-10. Turning Stone’s signature layout—one of three 18-hole courses at the resort—was previously ranked for four years on our 100 Greatest Public list, reaching as high as No. 55 in 2013-14, and returned to the list in 2023-24 after a nine-year absence. The Tom Fazio parkland design plays through woodlands and around pristine ponds that create a tranquil setting.

“This is a very well balanced course. While nothing was particularly outstanding, it is a solid resort course that is challenging but fair."

“Really well conditioned course with perfect bunkers. Very challenging, demanding tee shots required to give yourself angles into multiple greens. Cannot just hit driver on every hole. Greens shape sizes and contours are all wonderful. While green speed is not super important, these greens could be sped up a decent margin to add more challenge."

“Really good back nine with the water and creek. Length adds challenge. Well conditioned. Holes did feel a little redundant at times. Smaller greens than some other modern courses have incoming shots at a premium."

“Tom Fazio's entry at The Turning Stone Resort that has previously hosted a PGA Tour event. Definitely the longest of the three-championship courses at the resort. Some memorable holes on the back nine that makes nice use of a creek on many of the holes."

Review
“The prized course of Turning Stone Resort's 5 courses, Atunyote is an upscale public course that hosted the PGA Tour for several years soon after it opened. The course features a lavish entrance and stellar practice facilities and boasts a very pretty and well-conditioned layout over rolling hills of upstate New York. There are a few memorable holes with strong shot options such as the par fives 12 and 18 as well as the tough par 3 11th, but overall this course doesn't really offer much in terms of memorability or character."

“Although advertised as the big course at this resort, it was very boring. Big and wide at times, many holes were water left then next hole water right, repeat often. Not a fun course."
