“Split Rock is part of a 36 hole venue also featuring Pelham Bay. One of the better munis of New York City, Split Rock is an old-school course with some really interesting greens and a decent layout. This is a not an easy course by any means, largely due to poor tree management leaving many holes far too narrow. If I had to recommend a NYC muni to a tourist, Split Rock would be at the top of my list, but there are certainly better public courses once you leave the New York City limits."

“Split Rock is one of two 18 hole courses at this location, and the more challenging of the two. While the fairways and rough are not in good shape, the greens usually are passable and roll true (although slowly). The course gets somewhat repetitive with narrow, lengthy par 4s throughout but it is a solid place to get a round in for the NYC golfer. One note to be wary of: bring bug spray if playing during the summer as the course can be dominated by mosquitoes (especially holes 7-9)"
