Overview

Siwanoy Country Club, just a few miles up the Hutchinson River Parkway from New York City, was originally founded in 1901 and debuted its 18-hole Donald Ross-designed golf course in 1913. Siwanoy gained notoriety right away in hosting the 1916 PGA Championship. The course has retained nearly all of its original Ross characteristics even after renovations by Robert Trent Jones in 1952 and Mike DeVries in 2007. Tree removal during the most recent renovation allowed the undulating land to reveal itself while opening driving areas, reinstituting and rebuilding some fantastic cross bunkers and expanding putting surfaces. Built on a tight 110 acres and measuring just under 6,700 yards, Siwanoy’s challenge comes in the form of firm and immaculate greens with gigantic slopes and extensive run-offs. In a stellar Westchester County golf market, Siwanoy remains under the radar—which is exactly how the club likes it.

“Classic course just north of NYC on a small hilly property. This Donald Ross design hosted the 1916 PGA Championship and features a number of memorable and quirky holes, especially on the back 9. The greens and bunkering are the defense of the course which tops out at just short of 6700 yards. Westchester is one of the deepest golf areas in the country and Siwanoy is an under-the-radar course well-worth playing."
