Overview
The first of two Jack Nicklaus courses at Las Campanas—his 100th course in his portfolio—was built in 1993 and set within the foothills of Santa Fe sitting at about 7,000 feet above sea level with numerous elevation changes and a good mix of uphill and downhill holes. Most tee shots provide ample room off the tee but precision into the greens, and the par 5s are particularly challenging with narrow landing areas for second shots.

“A beautiful Jack Nicklaus design with generous fairways on most holes make this a playable course. Water hazards on #4 and #12 as well as the large fairway bunker on #6 create some very challenging shots. The tee shots from the tips on #8, #14 and #18 are visually daunting."

“Wide fairways with gentle slopes result in relatively flat lies for shots into well protected but large greens with slight undulations and many pin positions. More elevation changes and water in play on the back nine. Large, closely mowed fringe areas allow putting rather than tight chipping. Greens were fast and true. Only real defense against scoring is the length of the course unless the wind begins to blow."

“The fairways are generously wide, and the greens are relatively large but the tiering, slope, and speed of the greens will continuously challenge you. Hole #14, a spectacular 382 yd downhill then uphill dogleg right par 4 is, I think the signature hole on this course. It takes your breath away teeing from this elevated tee to a rising ribbon of green fairway"
