“Country Club of North Carolina Carolina is a fine golf course in excellent condition. However, it almost feels a bit bland, with few memorable holes. It was in excellent condition, demonstrating that the members and staff want an excellent golf course to play (actually 2 golf courses with the Dogwood golf course also in excellent condition). The staff is very friendly. I would probably enjoy being a member there, but I also wouldn't put it on my list of places to play in the Pinehurst area."

“The Cardinal course was a different test of golf in comparison to the courses surrounding it. It required much more carry and a high ball flight instead of keeping it on the ground and using it as your friend. The greens were in great shape and were very quick, but they could have been a bit firmer. The true test and challenge was the rough and the height at which it was kept. The ball would settle to the bottom making the fairways a premium. The greens showed a greater variety than the hole layout themselves. The undulation and size changes were just part as the challenge from narrow to broad approaches also made the angle at which you played in extremely important. The routing was done well as you didn't feel you were making a consistent left or right turn. You were required to work the ball both ways in order to score your best."

“Cardinal Course Architects-William Byrd, 1970, Robert Trent Jones, 1981, Arthur Hills, 2002 Large, fast greens that roll true. Generous fairways and greens, but tricky green complexes. This course started out as 9 holes, and an outward 9 was later added my Robert Trent Jones"
