Review

“Mid Pines is part of a three course group on classic Donald Ross courses. We know that means precise shot-making with a deft short game, else you got major problems. Ross courses are always fun to play, and by osmosis, your chipping with either improve greatly, else you'll be lining up appointments with your shrink and your club pro. The resort building stares down the 18th fairway, perhaps whispering "just one more hole, then it's time for the 19th hole". You simply CANNOT NOT have fun at Mid Pines."

“Very difficult tournament tested course. Forced carries over ravines and many lateral hazards make this a definite ball strikers course that emphasizes getting the ball in play off the tee. Wayward shots are punished. Nice size greens that vary, some with subtle breaks and others that are severe. Good variety of holes with not every par 4/5 tee shot requiring driver, and decisions need to be made about way to play the hole. Not overly long but plays much longer than the scorecard indicates. Beautifully maintained and the rare player who hits their handicap on this course surely golfed their ball well."

“This is a miserably difficult golf course. You will be worn out after your round. No one in my foursome (all single digit handicaps) were overly interested in playing it again. It was in very good shape and th caddie was excellent, but there is generally nowhere to miss."
