Overview
Skokie Country Club is a classic championship venue that boasts a strong history and a unique combination of contributions from Tom Bendelow, William Langford, Theodore Moreau and Donald Ross. It has withstood the test of time with a strong collection of short and long par-4s, offering a great variety of risk-and-reward opportunities. The course is fair, balanced and promotes accuracy and requires a moderate level of precision. The challenge is presented through bunkering, tree-lined fairways and large contoured greens. With wider fairways and run-up options to many greens, the course is very playable for golfers of all abilities and presents a very enjoyable experience.

“Since the renovation, Skokie appears a bit more open. The greens were expanded and a bit more undulation added to them. A terrific Parkland, treelined course that has almost a ravine feel to it. a varying set of par 3s going in every direction, and an interesting layout of no consecutive holes with the same par, until you get to 15. Makes you think about every shot, whether you are going high or low, most greens give you the ability to do both. However the greens can be deceptively tricky, as large as they are. The conditioning was impeccable, and made for a challenging enjoyable round in the links."

“Excellent and very fun golf course to play. You don't play a hole with the same par as a previous hole, until Holes #14 and #15 are both Par 4. Keeps the golf mentally very exciting. I could play here day - to - day. Enjoy it!"

“Skokie is a testing course and a worthy host to the recent Western Am, but also highly playable for members / players of all abilities. The holes away from the clubhouse are the highlights of the routing, including the stretch of 14-17 and 4-8, offering the most variance, thrill, and charm. The long 14th and short 15th, even though they play in the exact same direction, could not be more different / complimentary, ranging from tee shot, approach, and the perched up but open approach at the 14th to the elevated, fronted approach at 15. The par 3s lack finesse, but each does offer its own shot values and challenge, and they play in different directions and have complimentary visuals."

“Wonderful restoration by Ron Prichard of this Ross and Langford/Morueau design. Greens are amongst the firmest and fastest Ross style greens one will encounter, yet still fair. Bunkering frames routing off the tee and green complexes masterfully. Standout holes include 1, 3, 11, 12, & 18. Seemingly no weak holes as well as no true signature hole or holes. Just solid design features from hole to hole. Generally approach shots that are long will be a bogey or more, in typical Ross fashion."

“Skokie Country Club featured a great set of large greens with exceptional green contours. The cross bunkers off the tee and approach gave you several options on how to attack the hole. A good mix of short and long par 4s and par 3s. The majority of the course sits on a flat piece of property that didn't play too firm but provided an easy walk. The lack of trees gave a nice visual of the overall routing of the course and showcased its signature deep, grass faced bunkers."
