Overview
The Fall Line property in central Georgia sits amid a sandy transition zone that spans from Columbus to Augusta. The club’s vast, 5,000-acre site—as rural as it gets in the Southeast—provided near limitless opportunities for the Australian firm of Ogilvy, Cocking & Mead (with Mike Cocking as lead architect), inspiring the concept of two complementary courses, one designed with British heathland accents and one with Melbourne sand belt influences. Opened first, the heathland-inspired East Course ventures through sparse forests of scrub pine with broad, inviting fairways that cascade across long inclines of land. A detour from holes 11 through 15 take play into a highland meadow that provides outward views of the surrounding central Georgia ridges and valleys before the routing ducks back into the pines. As with its ancestral inspiration, playing the ball along the ground on the zippy Zeon zoysia fairways is half the fun as balls can careen onto the wild greens from a variety of angles, and the six par 3s each present unique looks and challenges. The routing is also enigmatic, with no repeating pars until the 12th and 13th holes (both par 4s), keeping the shot options fresh hole to hole.

“Fall Line East takes inspiration from English heathland golf and features a strong variety of big, expansive muscular holes combined with more narrow, subtle and intimate ones. The East's Zoysia fairways provide a more player-friendly alternative to the West course's Bermuda fairways and allow the golfer to confidently attempt bold wedge shots onto the highly interesting and varied set of greens. The land is extremely well suited for golf, with the course beginning in wooded terrain, opening up to an expansive ridge, then closing again in wooded terrain."

“The East Course’s trees and high grass frame the holes, creating a sense of separation reminiscent of England’s heathland courses. The routing flows naturally through the terrain, with changes in direction and elevation giving the round variety. The greens reward thoughtful positioning and attention to approach angles. Each hole feels part of the landscape, with a flow that makes the course a pleasure to walk."

“Great new golf that should to continue getting better with age. Built in the london style of bunker design with excellent variety between the golf holes. Being treelined sets up the golf holes on the front nine and opens up with more views on the back nine, with less trees lining the fairways. 6 par threes playing from 145-220. The golf course has 2 tee options but the score card reads 6610 yards"

“Fall Line East is a fantastic new design by OCM that brings the style of the English Heathland to mid Georgia. The result is a very original golf course where you know you aren't in England but get off line into the heath and bracken and it certainly plays like it. 6 par 3s and an incredibly varied layout ensure each hole feels unique and separate yet it plays cohesively over the expansive property. With its magnificent conditioning and creative design, Fall Line East certainly has earned the title of best new course from 2025."
