Overview

Work on Old Toccoa Farm started during the financial crisis. After nine holes originally opened in 2015, Dan Proctor and Dave Axland, a long-time shaper for Bill Coore and Crenshaw, finalized their design in 2020, earning recognition with a top-10 award in Golf Digest’s Best New survey. The course features 300 feet of elevation change and stunning views of the surrounding Chattahoochee and Cherokee Nation Forests.

Review

“A par 72, 6700-yard course from the tips and 4,500 from the forward tees. Don't let the yardage fool you. The fairways are surrounded by fescue and native areas while large bunkers surround most greens. The greens are in excellent shape and require accurate shots to get the ball close. The scenery is excellent with large mountains views surrounding almost every hole. The course winds through the terrain moving both up and down hill making each hole unique. A double green for holes 14 & 16 makes for fun routing."

“Old Toccoa is built on severe terrain and is likely to be polarizing -- I really liked it but have at least one friend that disagreed. Played really fast and firm, which was fun given the wild terrain and fairways wide enough to accommodate most decent shots. Old Toccoa is not conventional, which is probably why I really enjoyed it!"

“Course in N. GA mountains with great views and scenery but has several strange holes to fit it into large elevation changes. Must play more than once if you expect to shoot a good score as you will find blind shots and shots that end up in strange places. All 18 holes opened in summer 2020 and condition was good for new course. Go for the fun and uniqueness and enjoy the scenery!"
