Overview
Featuring two Greg Norman designed championship courses as well as a lit nine-hole par-3 track, ChampionsGate is the perfect choice for an action-packed Orlando golf experience. The challenging International course features large greens (made even bigger by a recent restoration) and numerous grassy dunes, giving the layout a links feel.

“Soft greens, but they rolled true. Not much challenge off the tee, which sets up well for the typical resort player. Several elevated greens, placing a premium on iron play. Not much roll in the fairways, so combined with prevailing wind direction, makes several of the par 4s play longer than the yardage. Overall, a fine place to tee it up if you have not been before."

“Resort course with repetitive small bunkers lining fairways and greens. Putting surfaces were velcro like and uniformly flat. Being close to the tourist hot spots in central Florida, the course does give you the impression of being with nature. Maintenance staff became a real annoyance."

“The International Course at Championsgate is a resort course designed by Greg Norman that is part of the 36-hole complex associated with the Omni property. The links-like layout seems out of place in flat, swampy central Florida. The course appears wide but seems to play narrow off the tee, and the greens are all elevated, small-ish and often narrow. Given that the greens don’t hold shots all that well, this course places a premium on recovery shots, although the greens roll true and are fairly easy to read once you find them. However, the course has a number of very good features, with reachable par 5s and par 4s and a very good variety of par 3s. There are bombs-away holes, strategic layups, and some risk-reward opportunities. A few holes are quite attractive, such as the par 5 12th that calls for a gradual draw along a pond that borders much of the hole on the left. But the issues with the property are exemplified by the par 4 16th, a straight but beautifully bunkered hole with the bunkers focusing your attention to the distant green, behind which is a truly hideous housing complex that seems reminiscent of Soviet-era stylings from the 1930s. Yet these “barracks” are on the Omni property and were likely added after the course was built, with obviously no consideration to course esthetics. To their credit, the various rental properties and houses do not come into play, and parts of the course are reasonably well-isolated. If these issues don’t bother you, then you’ll find Championsgate (International) to be a fun challenge with some tough holes balanced by birdie opportunities."

“Good course. Wide variety of distances to choose from. Plays longer than listed yardage. Fun course to play with many options on how to tackle holes. Water hazards are fun and tempting to cut as much off as possible. Reachable par 4’s require a booming drive and probably not reachable by many. Risk reward options abound! Greens are true and fast and make sure you watch the grain- can be tricky. Pot bunkers are plentiful and dangerous. A touch on the pricier side."

“A Greg Normal links style course with a lot of water, but most of it is easy to avoid given the mostly generous fairways. A nice mix of long and short holes. From the 339 short dogleg left 12th hole with a great risk/reward tee shot to the 231 par 3 14th (into a stiff wind when I played, 3 of us hit the green, but had to hit driver to do it). 3 of the par 3's are north of 200 yard from the back tees, the 4th is 148 yards to a very shallow green. Most of the greens are large but not all giving the option of some brutal pins. The course was in fantastic shape from tee to green. Overall a very fun course."

“ChampionsGate is a two course facility with a bonus 9 hole short course as well. The better of the two full courses, in my opinion, is the International Course which boasts more length, better variety, and a mix of very interesting holes. The greens were also in better condition on this course than the other in my back to back day rounds. The service at the facility is fantastic, as you'd expect at a resort course with good food and drinks. I'll also note that the drainage is great, as we had a rain delay due to huge storms and were able to be released from cart path only after 6-7 holes."

“Great deal of wildlife to observe, but the course is straight-forward and largely uninspired."

“Well-conditioned Greg Norman course. All the greens look and play the same."

“Tough track with lots of challenge for single digits; but almost every hole is a forced carry--rough is thick and ball-eating. Medium to high-handicappers should avoid this course unless they just want punishment. Condition is decent after renovation, but greens are still bumpy, but generally true."
