Overview
Bold and dramatic bunkering is a key feature on the first of two Jack Nicklaus-designed courses at Toscana Country Club. Nicklaus’ team moved a lot of earth to create some rolling terrain that offers impressive elevation changes. A number of long par 4s require precise approach shots over water and well-guarded putting complexes. Often times, challenging the bunkers off the tee creates the best angles in the greens.

“A fun Nicklaus layout with a strength in aesthetics and conditioning. A variety of shot options for aggressive play, with green complexes that guard the course."

“Faux Italian makes a nice course a little pretentious. But fun to play and worth the trip."

“Very enjoyable layout to play. Super conditioning. Easy off the tee. The second shots are difficult enough to make the course a challenge in spots. Well worth the 4 hours."

“A wonderful Nicklaus course in Indian Wells. Excellent conditioning & beautiful aesthetics make for a very fun round of golf. Fairways are wide, fast and firm dotted with typical large Nicklaus-style bunkers. Greens are receptive and roll true. the layout / routing is good and recovery around the greens is available throughout the course. I marked this course down slightly in the Challenge category as it plays fair but not overly difficult. Toscana is a private club with wonderful golf amenities. The beauty and pure fun of playing this course makes it a must if you can secure a tee time here in the Palm Desert area."

“Solid well designed golf course featuring a variety of long and short holes. Water comes into play on 8 holes requiring accurate tee and or approach shots to avoid the penalty areas. When played course played firm and fast throughout. Fairways were relatively forgiving albeit bordered by large deep faced bunkers effectively pinching down landing areas. Most of the large greens were elevated with large deep bunkering and or tightly mowed running areas bordering each. The bunkering and water features created challenges and options off tees and into greens. Overall, conditioning was very good. Taking all of these factors into account, this was an enjoyable course to play."

“Unique wave fairway bunkers … completely visible from the tee and invisible from the green back to tee. Bunker placement made accurate tee shots a must. Slope of fairway allowed for power slots to maximize drive roll on well positioned drives. Greens require knowledge of shot placement to allow ease of putting. Extremely well manicured and landscaped. "

“Listed in Nicklaus Book as one of his top 18 courses. From Hole 1 to 18 Design variety is top notch. Course requires straight drives because of fairway bunkers on both sides of fairways with high lips. Approach shots require accuracy and distance control. Each green is bunkered well in some cases requires shots over water/stone walls. "
