“This course provides a fine model of what municipal golf can be. Brian Costello's design is tantalizing, playful, and adventurous. It has offers five sets of tees, fifty-nine bunkers, with cross-bunkers, and strategic design principles. It allows good players to use their ground games. Costello made good use of elevation changes as natural design elements. They add drama and interest. It takes skill to showcase such features without turning the walk into a slog. Costello achieved this, although you should expect some hilly treks on the back nine, especially. As surrounding native grasses turn gold, this summer, expect the course to be particularly beautiful."

“Target-style course through rolling hills. Some fun/interesting holes along the way but the last two holes leave a bad aftertaste - rest of course is better than you remember after finishing."

“Good public course in East Bay area. Some drainage issues and pace of play can be slow here but greens typically run pretty well and the course has a variety of different holes. A lot of quirky holes as well including lots of forced layups. Lot of undulation on greens makes some putts very interesting"

“It's commendable the city of Pleasanton opened this course five years ago. Few municipalities are in position to build courses these days. The Bay Area in general has seen several courses close in recent years. Pleasanton is a Silicon Valley bedroom community that has seen property values soar in the last 20 years. It is mostly good golf on rolling former ranch property. As it is new relatively new, turf is good quality. Greens are still bentgrass, not poa annua. Drainage can be an issue in wet winters. A couple holes had to be built on ill-suited , overly steep terrain. Good practice facility and a nice clubhouse with a large spacious dining room full of natural light and pleasing views. Worth a drive if you leave in the Diablo Valley, Pleasanton, Livermore or the East Bay. A good weekend option from the South Bay, but don't try this drive on a weekday. I-680 is some of the worst traffic in the area even with a new toll road opened."
