Woods to play first LPGA event

May 19, 2009

That would be Cheyenne Woods, who calls the game's best player Uncle Tiger. Woods, 18, a freshman golfer at Wake Forest, was extended a sponsor invitation to play in the Wegmans LPGA in Pittsford, N.Y., June 25-28. It will mark her LPGA debut.

Cheyenne is the daughter of Earl Woods Jr., Earl Woods' son from an earlier marriage.

Amanda Blumenherst of Duke also has been invited. Woods and Blumenherst, incidentally, are from the same high school, Xavier Prep in Phoenix.
