Women’s British Open heading to this historic English links for the first time in 2027

A place that has hosted the British Open 15 times will now get the chance to host the AIG Women’s British Open for the first time in 2027.
The R&A announced Wednesday at Royal Porthcawl that Royal St. George’s will host the women’s championship in two years, visiting the Kent links July 29-Aug. 1 of that year.
“The AIG Women’s Open is a global sporting event and we are committed to giving the best players in the world the best stages on which to compete,” said R&A CEO Mark Darbon. “Royal St George’s is one of the world’s great links courses and will provide a fantastic test for the players. We look forward to working with AIG to put on a wonderful championship for the fans on the south coast of England in two years’ time.”
Collin Morikawa was the latest Champion Golfer of the Year at Royal St. George’s, winning his second major championship there in 2021. Other notables to win on the heralded course are Darren Clarke, Greg Norman, Sandy Lyle, Walter Hagen and Harry Vardon.
Next year’s playing of the women’s championship will Royal Lytham & St. Annes.
