It’s easy. All you have to do is knock your tee shot closer to the hole than everyone else in the country and you’ll be $100,000 richer. It probably will require a hole-in-one, but we'll all find out soon enough. Now, our math is sometimes shaky—we are writers after all—but there’s an excellent chance you make it. The ball will either go in the hole or it won’t. Those are 50-50 odds. Right? … Right?
Either way, here’s all you have to do. Go to the Golf Galaxy of your choice between Friday, June 7 and Sunday, June 9, and try your luck at one of the in-store golf simulators. You’ll have three attempts at Pebble Beach’s par-3 No. 7. You may need a Trackman account, but that’s free to create and available to set up at Golf Galaxy. It’s all ready to go. Are you?
You could be the next Jersey Jerry, or the first Wyoming Wayne, Florida Francine or California Steve. Again, you only get three tries. Not 2,627 shots over 37 hours, but we believe in you. Kinda.
You could have all of Golf Galaxy cheering your name. That’s the dream right there, especially when considering the cash coming to your doorstep.
One quick thing: You do have to be 18 years old or older, unfortunately, which is a blow to the pin-seeking toddler community.
Anyway, here’s what you can take home: “The winner will receive a $100,000 cash prize. In addition to the grand prize, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the national competition will receive a gift card worth $1,000 and $500, respectively.” Here are the Sweepstakes Rules, too, just in case you want to have a little look-see.
The best part of this entire event is that it’s a week before Father’s Day, so you’ll probably need to trek over to Golf Galaxy in the coming weeks anyway to get a hat, glove or ugly golf shirt for your old man. Think of all you can buy for him (and yourself) with one good swing.
