Why Tommy Fleetwood is caddieing on the Challenge Tour this week

April 25, 2024

After a busy stretch of three straight tournaments starts, Tommy Fleetwood is taking a week off. But only sort of.

The seven-time DP World Tour winner finds himself back on the Challenge Tour, only as a caddie. Fleetwood is on the bag for stepson Oscar Craig at this week's UAE Challenge.

The DP World Tour shared some photos of the Ryder Cup star caddieing, and he looks to be enjoying his time.

Although, Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose couldn't resist a little dig in the captions: "That's a carry bag @officialtommyfleetwood what about the tour bag???"

Whatever bag and whatever Fleetwood is doing so far seems to be working as Oscar got off to a strong start on Thursday with an opening 69. The 17-year-old earned his spot in the tournament by winning the Ras Al Khaimah Men’s Open in February. So the kid is a player.

The Fleetwood family also has a home down the road in Dubai and plays out of the Jumeirah Golf Estates, which also features the Tommy Fleetwood Academy. Here's video of them in action during a practice round at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club:

Of course, this isn't the only caddie-related news made by Fleetwood recently. With his usual looper, Ian Finnis, sick, Fleetwood used Augusta National's former caddie master Gray Moore and finished T-3.

But if you're wondering about Tommy possibly being in for another unexpected payday this week, it won't happen. Oscar is still an amateur.
