Who is in the field for the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach
With the close of entries for the 2019 U.S. Open on April 24, 50 players knew they were in the field when the national championship was set to return for the sixth time to Pebble Beach Golf Links in June. In the ensuing weeks, the remainder of the 156 spots available were filled out through various methods, the majority via players competing in Local and Sectional Qualifying (the USGA received 9,125 entries into this year's championship).
The field was finalized on Monday morning of U.S. Open week when three more players gained access to the field based on being in the top 60 in the Official World Golf Ranking this morning but not otherwise exempt (congrats to Andrew Putnam, Emiliano Grillo and Scott Piercy) and three spots left open for other World top-60 qualifiers were instead filled by alternates from U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying (step right up, Joel Dahmen, Bernd Wiesberger and Harris English).
Here is a list of all those competing this week at Pebble Beach as of 10:30 a.m. Monday morning.
