What else is new? Woods to start his 2014 season at Torrey Pines
By Sam Weinman
Tiger Woods got around to confirming what many had already assumed, that he will start his 2014 season at Torrey Pines in the Farmers Insurance Open Jan. 23-26.
Woods has won seven times in the Farmers Insurance, including last year when he shot 14-under 274 to win by four. The only tournaments Woods has won more are the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Bridgestone Invitiational, both of which he won for an eighth time in his five-win 2013 season. If you factor in Woods' win in the 2008 U.S. Open, however, it's hard to think of a course he enjoys more than Torrey Pines.
After San Diego, Woods will play in the European Tour's Dubai Desert Classic the following week, and likely won't play again in the U.S. until the Accenture Match Play Championship Feb. 19-23.
