Watch this British Open farewell video to Tom Watson

Tom Watson is saying a final goodbye to the Old Course this week. Again.

The 65-year-old believed 2010 would serve as his swan song over Swilcan Bridge, as the R&A exempts past champions until they reach 60. However, due to Watson's heart-breaking performance at Turnberry in the 2009 championship, the tournament created a new provision: past winners receive a five-year exemption following a top-10 finish. (Note: anytime in life that someone has to institute a rule strictly because of your being, you have done something spectacular. Or vice versa.)

Alas, Watson reiterated that this year's Open -- along with the 2016 Masters -- will mark his final appearance on the main stage.

To commemorate this event, Adams, a Watson sponsor, released a video short with the five-time Open champion taking a look back:

Despite owning the reputation as the greatest links player in the history of the game, Watson has never won at St. Andrews.

But, as we saw in 2009, crazier things have happened.
