Watch Shanshan Feng have a putt blown into the hole

April 25, 2016

Shanshan Feng didn't have her best stuff on Sunday, but she certainly made the most unusual birdie of the week on any tour. Strong winds in the San Francisco area wreaked havoc on the field at the LPGA Swinging Skirts, however, the conditions helped Feng on one occasion. After missing a par putt on the 17th hole, the wind blew the ball into the hole.

"I didn't do anything!" Feng exclaimed. Nope, you didn't. And yes, it counts (Although TV had it wrong that it was a birdie). Watch the weird occurrence and note the little "count it!" by the announcer at the end of the clip:

OK, the David Blaine line was pretty good, too.

Matt Kuchar had a similar thing happen to him at the Fiji International in November. But Kuchar's wind-aided putt was only for bogey.

They say the pro miss when putting is to miss on the high side of the hole. But it looks like missing on the wind side can be a good strategy as well.
