There is no great reason to show this old Seve Ballesteros highlight today -- other than the fact that it's awesome. When the European Tour tweeted it out a couple days ago, at least it was the 19th anniversary of it happening. But today, on Wednesday, we can't even present it as a "Throwback Thursday" piece. Maybe we should start a "Seve Sundays" segment?
Anyway, it's a clip of Seve hitting a fairway wood through a tree from his knees to set up an improbable birdie at the 1997 Lancome Trophy. Again, it's awesome. Check it out:
How the...?! More than the five majors the late golfing great won, Seve is remembered for being a short-game magician and the all-time master of the recovery shot. With clips like this (he nearly put that trick shot on the green!), it's not hard to see why. OK, carry on.
