Watch Rickie Fowler come within inches of an albatross at Chambers Bay

June 18, 2015

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. -- Rickie Fowler, perhaps the trendiest of the trendy picks heading into the first round of the U.S. Open, has had a disastrous first round at Chambers Bay. Specifically, we direct you to holes six through nine. But tread cautiously. It's not pretty.

Still, as bad as Fowler's day overall has been at Chambers Bay, that's how good this drive was on the par-4 12th -- one in which he not only reached the green, but deftly played the slope to steer his ball back toward the hole. But don't take our word for it. See for yourself.

It's been a long day for > @RickieFowler, but his near-ace at the par-4 12th was the shot of the day. (via > @USOpenGolf) > http://t.co/osTYLj3dVS — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) > June 19, 2015

Our advice to Fowler heading into the rest of the tournament is to hit more shots like that. That will help your score. You're welcome.
