Watch Golf Digest's Editor-in-Chief's ridiculously clutch shot on national TV

February 12, 2015

At Golf Digest, Editor-in-Chief Jerry Tarde is our boss, so we understand we run the risk of looking like hopeless suck-ups for gushing about his shot on national television during the first round of AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

In fact, who's to say we wouldn't have had the same reaction had Jerry, say, chunked his tee shot into the bunker?

Fortunately, Tarde didn't do that. Instead, he did this:

Tarde's approach with his Ping hybrid on the famed 17th at Pebble Beach landed in the collar in front of the green, then rolled up to about six feet short of the flagstick. What course management! What touch! Did we mention he's our boss?!

Alas, the man is not perfect. If you must know, Tarde missed the birdie putt, but he and pro partner Bill Lunde still had a stellar first day, finishing with a net 64, and now sit T-14, which helps keep alive hopes of making the 54-hole cut.

Twenty-five amateur teams will advance to play on Sunday. We hope he stays alive as long as possible so we can continue to goof off in his absence watch him play great golf.
