Video: Jimmy Fallon's charmed existence continues, holes bunker shot on camera
By Sam Weinman
These are heady days to be Jimmy Fallon. The new host of "The Tonight Show" has nudged ahead of his competition with consistently strong ratings. And when he plays golf, he holes bunker shots on command. Or something like that.
During an early-morning round on Friday at New Jersey's Bayonne Golf Club, Fallon was captured by a playing partner, celebrity chef Mario Batali, holing out of a greenside bunker on the fourth hole. Perhaps surprising for a guy who appears before 4.3 million viewers a night, Fallon's first reaction was to make sure Batali caught the shot on camera -- which, happily for everyone involved, he did.
Fallon discussed his growing interest in golf in a recent profile in New York Magazine, saying "golf is going to be my thing." He said he's recently been fitted for clubs, is taking regular lessons, and works out often at New York's Golf & Body. Perhaps most telling is he was playing golf early Friday morning in northern New Jersey, when temperatures hovered in the 40s.
Nice to see he was rewarded.
