Utah Jazz fan misses NBA trade deadline while under anesthesia, cries when he hears the news

    February 09, 2018

Thursday's NBA trade deadline was one of the more wild ones in recent memory, with a flurry of notable moves being made right before the clock hit 3 p.m. Just ask my colleague Alex Myers, who missed at least three trades while stepping out to get lunch. To borrow/alter a phrase from Ferris Bueller, if you didn't stop and refresh Adrian Wojnarowski's Twitter feed every few minutes, you just might miss it literally missed everything.

One poor, diehard Utah Jazz fan fell in that category, missing the entire NBA trade deadline while under anesthesia during surgery. Upon waking up, he was made aware that the Jazz had sent guard Rodney Hood to the Cleveland Cavaliers, receiving Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose in exchange. Things got very emotional after that:

For a guy just coming out from under, his analysis is spot on.

"I can't believe we traded Rodney Hood," he says, before bursting into tears. "For Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose, Derrick Rose suuuuuuucks."

Can't disagree with any of that. Hood has been one of Utah's rising stars since being drafted out of Duke in 2014, and was averaging a career-best 16.8 points per game this season. As for Crowder, his short time in Cleveland was less than stellar. And then there's Rose, who most definitely sucks. Tough break for Darren Muir, you poor bastard.
