USC women enter postseason on high

Here are the results of the latest from the Golf World/WGCA women's coaches polls. As the conference championship season gets under way, the top of the Division I, II and III polls will all have a familiar look to them.

USC received 17 of the available 21 first-place votes. After the conclusion of the voting, the Trojans finished fifth last weekend at the Ping/ASU Invitational, the team's eighth top five finish of the 2012-13 season. Four times USC has won a team title as it tries to win its first conference crown since 2011.

Alabama, winners at the Ping/ASU event, claimed the No. 2 spot in the poll for the fourth straight edition. The Crimson Tide received three first-place votes, have four wins, including three in their last three starts, and play for the SEC Championship title this coming weekend.


Nova Southeastern remained the unanimous pick among the voting members for the top spot in the Division II coaches' poll. The Sharks earned all 19 votes as it has won six team titles in eight starts, their only blemishes on the resume coming at events where the majority of teams were D-I schools.

Flip-Flopping at No. 2 and No. 3 are St. Edward's and Lynn, the two schools separated by one single point in the ranking. Rollins and Barry, previous No. 5 and 6, have moved into the No. 3 and No. 4. Rounding out the top five is Barry.


Methodist, with 10 of 16 first-place votes, claimed the top spot in the Division III coaches' poll  The Monarchs won their six team title in nine starts at they try to win an unprecedented 16th straight NCAA titles.

Mary Hardin-Baylor retained its No. 2 spot, earning five first-place votes (No. 4 DePauw is the only one that with a vote). Washington (St. Louis) is No. 3.
