U.S. Open 2025: PGA Tour rookie gets off to all-time brutal start to second round

No one summed up how difficult Oakmont can play than Si Woo Kim after Thursday's first round of the 2025 U.S. Open. "Honestly, I don't even know what I'm doing on the course," Kim said. "Kind of hitting good but feel like this course is too hard for me."
And he had just shot 68 to put himself high on the leaderboard!
But there were a lot of people out there actually knocking the famed U.S. Open track for playing too easy and not producing enough CARNAGE on Day 1. We know one person who definitely won't be saying that after Day 2, though.
That would be PGA Tour rookie Will Chandler, who got off to an all-time brutal start to Friday's second round. Have a look at this terrifying scorecard:
Yep, been there, done that. But not at the U.S. Open where millions are following you. Poor guy. That's tough.
That's back-to-back doubles to start, followed by a quad, and then just a regular bogey, which must have felt like a birdie for the 27-year-old University of Georgia product. Again, tough.
Chandler finally stopped the bleeding with a par on No. 5. We wish him the best the rest of the way. And if you're a golfer with a Friday afternoon tee time at Oakmont, beware.
