U.S. Open 2024: Scottie Scheffler is probably going to ruin this epic $1 MILLION parlay

June 15, 2024

Scottie Scheffler finally having a bad week is going to cost him winning a second major in what has already been a historic season. It also might cost one gambler $1 MILLION.

Scheffler shot 71 on Saturday at Pinehurst No. 2, ending the World No. 1's chances of winning the U.S. Open, and marking the first time he's recorded four consecutive over-par scores as a professional. More importantly to one mystery bettor, Scheffler is well outside the top 10 heading into Sunday's final round. And that will likely end the chances of cashing an epic eight-leg, multi-sport parlay.

Have a look at this insane betting ticket for nearly 60,000-to-1 odds that would turn a $16.68 wager into nearly $1 million:

Unbelievable. South Carolina women's basketball winning the national title? Check. Same for UConn men's? Check. Man City winning the Premier League? Check. Carlos Alcarez winning the French Open? Check. And the Boston Celtics and Florida Panthers about to win their respective titles? About to be check and check.

As you can see, that leaves the Los Angeles Dodgers winning the World Series (they're still the heavy favorites) and Scheffler finishing top 10 in all four majors. Scheffler won the Masters and finished T-8 at the PGA Championship despite not having his usual caddie for the third round and getting ARRESTED ahead of the second round.

Scheffler entered this week at +275 to win (2.75-to-1 odds), the lowest odds of any golfer since Tiger Woods at the 2009 U.S. Open. To finish in the top 10 you would have had to lay 3-to-1 odds he was such a big favorite. But now he's nearly 8-to-1 entering the final round to keep this amazing bet alive.

"Hopefully going into tomorrow, as far as goals, I don't really think about it," Scheffler told reporters on Saturday. "I'll try to have a good round tomorrow."

You do that, Scottie. At least one person out there is really counting on it.
