UCLA women have (No.) 1 thing on their minds
While UCLA's victory at the Pacific Coast Invitational yesterday, the team's sixth of the 2011-12 season, came after the votes had already been cast, the Bruins' triumph at the Ping ASU Invitational earlier this month was enough for them to keep the top spot of the latest Golf World/NGCA women's Division I coaches' poll.
UCLA earned 23 of the 26 available first-place votes, with the other three going to Alabama, the second-ranked squad in the most recent poll.
Duke's triumph at the ACC Championship came three days after the close of the voting, explaining their No. 8 spot behind ACC runner-up North Carolina.
Nova Southeastern also maintained its No. 1 ranking in the Division II poll, thanks in part to a T-2 finish at the Hoya Invitational. Still playing with just four golfers in their lineup, the Sharks lost to only Old Dominion and defeated seven other Division I schools.
Methodist's recent performances has the team focusing on yet another NCAA crown. The Monarchs earned all but one of the 22 available first-place votes to claim the top spot in the Division III women's poll
