Earmuffs, kids. Tyrrell Hatton hit a bad shot and let the F-bombs fly
The wind was way up in Abu Dhabi on Friday, leading to some much higher scores and plenty of frustrations for those playing in the DP World Tour's season-opener. Tyrrell Hatton, who shot a first-round 66, had a particularly bad time in his second round, and I think we all know what happens when Hatton has a bad time on the golf course.
Early on his back nine, Hatton was actually plugging along just fine, sitting at two over on his round and four under on the tournament, just a few shots off the lead. You would have thought he was 10 over and on his way to missing the cut, though, after a really bad swing at the par-4 12th. Again, I think you know where this is going. Earmuffs, kids:
Whoever said "It would be a good idea just to apologize when Tyrrell goes on to the first tee" has it right. We all know what's going to happen on a hot mic when Hatton makes a poor swing, so we might as well just do away with the apologies every time and get it out of the way early. Also, there's really no need to apologize anyway. This is the type of content everyone will happily inject directly into their veins.
Believe it or not, Hatton went on to par this hole and then parred the next four in a row. But a disastrous bogey, double-bogey finish sent up freefalling down the leader board to one under, tied for 23rd. We'd pay top dollar to hear whatever he was muttering to himself off the 18th green after that.
