Tony Finau shoots a 'silly' round of 60 on 8,100-yard course in Utah

It’s one thing for us to say a pro golfer looks like he’s playing a video game. It’s quite another when he says it for himself. Especially when it’s one of the most humble guys on tour.

But Tony Finau couldn’t’ help himself, and we give him huge props for it. You deserve to pat yourself on the back when you shoot a 60 on a course that stretches 8,100 yards from the back tees.

Finau posted on Saturday about his 60 on Friday at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Painted Valley Golf Course in the Promontory development in Park City, Utah. Finau, of course, makes his home in the state.

“Video game golf yesterday @promontoryclub Nicklaus course,” Finau posted on Instagram. “60 from the back tees is silly if I must say myself.”

Giving it even more of a video game feel is that someone actually filmed Finau for the entire round, and nearly every shot was put in a compilation for us all to see. It’s pretty crazy stuff, especially on the back nine, where Finau goes birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie-birdie from 11 through 15. He also had THREE lipouts in the round, so it could have been a 57.

The only real trouble he was in came at the par-3 16th, where he had to make a par save from a bunker. He birdied the par-5 17th to have a shot at 59 with a birdie at 18, but he couldn’t drain what looked like about a 30-foot putt and had to settle for an incoming 29 and 60.

Certainly, a nice warmup for playing on the American squad next week in the Presidents Cup. Too bad Quail Hollow's elevation isn't 7,000 feet.
