Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler paired together on Saturday

December 02, 2016

The Tiger Woods comeback tour is bound to attract a few more eyeballs on Saturday. Not only is the 14-time major champ within range of the leaders heading into the weekend, but he'll also be paired with another of the sport's biggest stars. Tiger, say hi to Rickie:

That's right, Tiger Woods and Rickie Fowler will play together in a 12:26 p.m. (ET) third-round tee time at the Hero World Challenge. Both players enter the weekend at T-9 in the 18-man field that's now down to 17 as a result of Justin Rose's withdrawal due to a bad back.

Tournament co-leaders Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama will play together in the day's final pairing.

Woods and Fowler last played together in the first two rounds of the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay, where both players missed the cut. Woods was a vice captain for Fowler at the recent Ryder Cup.

It was Rose's WD that caused Woods to play by himself in the first tee time on Friday. Woods promptly went out and shot a bogey-free 65 in a round that took just two hours and 54 minutes. Woods' third round will take a little longer to complete, but at least he'll have another player keeping him company.

The best part of the Tiger-Rickie pairing on Saturday? Live coverage starts at noon on Golf Channel before switching over to NBC at 2:30, so you won't miss any of it.
