Tiger still misfiring, shoots 79 in Ireland

July 05, 2010

Leaving the country did not help Tiger Woods, who shot a seven-over par 79 in the first round of the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am at the Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort in Ireland on Monday.

The rigors of overseas travel, or the fact he was playing in a tournament on Sunday, can't be blamed, either. His friend John Cook was traveling from Montreal, where on Sunday he finished second in the Montreal Championship on the Champions Tour. Cook shot a one-under par 71 and was tied for the lead.

Woods tied for 46th at the AT&T National outside Philadelphia on Sunday before traveling to Ireland.

The JP McManus Invitational is a two-day charity tournament held every five years.
