Coming off his maiden PGA Tour victory on Sunday, Troy Merritt made his World Golf Championship debut on Thursday. To be kind, it didn't go so well.
Merritt, who before this week had only played Firestone Country Club in a video game, struggled in his first actual competitive round at the course. The 29-year-old shot 82, five strokes worse than anyone else. Did we mention this is a guy who won just four days ago?
Merritt took to Twitter to comment on the quick turn of events.
Well said, Troy. Well said.
