The tee shot seen 'round the world

April 08, 2010

Talk about a tease. Augusta National Golf Club allowed ESPN only to show Tiger Woods' opening tee shot, which split the middle of the fairway Thursday.

Viewers will have to wait another two hours, 18 minutes to resume watching him continue to play his first tournament round since November.

"A big exhale, great rhythm, very solid," Andy North said analyzing the shot seen 'round the world.

The hierarchy at Augusta National, which answers to nobody, declined to alter its broadcast plans by permitting ESPN to show one of the most highly anticipated rounds in the history of the game.

The cable sports network will provide frequent updates on his round between now and when its telecast begins at 4 p.m. EDT.
