We’re back! After a few weeks off to celebrate the holidays, ring in the new year and maybe catch up on some television, the best of the best on the PGA Tour are at Kapalua Resort in Hawaii for a new iteration of The Sentry, previously the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

This year’s event features a 59-player field comprised of PGA Tour winners in 2023 plus the top 50 finishers off the FedEx Cup points list. All but one eligible golfer (Rory McIlroy) is competing in Maui during not just the kick-off event of the 2024 PGA Tour schedule, but the first signature event of the year, offering more prize money and FedEx Cup points). One other notable name is missing from the field: Last year’s Sentry winner, Jon Rahm, who is missing the event because, umm, … well, you know why. So we’ll have a new champ to start the new year.

Kapalua: Plantation
Lahaina, HI

Located on the north shore of the Hawaiian island of Maui, the Plantation was built from open, windswept pineapple fields on the pronounced slope of a volcano and is irrigated by sprinklers pressured solely by gravity. As the first design collaboration by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, it unveiled their joint admiration for old-style courses.

FedEx Cup winner Viktor Hovland and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler headline this loaded field and they’ll be joined by top-tier talent like Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Matt Fitzpatrick, Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark, Tom Kim and Tyrrell Hatton. Certainly not a bad way to start 2024.

The winner will receive 700 FedEx Cup points, a bump from 500 points for a standard PGA Tour victory, and a $3.6 million share of the $20 million purse.
