The Jordan Spieth Slam-o-Meter: Sunday at the British Open

July 19, 2015

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland -- Throughout this week, we'll update the status of Jordan Spieth becoming the first golfer to ever complete the calendar Grand Slam.

The Good: This guy is unstoppable!!! OK, maybe not, but it sure feels that way. After a disappointing 72 in the second round, Spieth merely responded by shooting 66 on Sunday to keep his Grand Slam hopes very much alive. Does he feel more pressure having won the first two majors of the year? Quite the opposite! "Maybe just a little more comfort, a little more -- like the word I used, free rolling is the one that Michael likes to use with me. There's really no downside. If we have a chance to win and we don't execute tomorrow, then we're going to be OK. And with that attitude, it actually frees me up a little bit to say I can take these extra chances." Translation: The rest of the field is cooked.

Spieth Slam-o-Meter Rating:__ 7. We'd go even higher, but we guess there's still one more round at St. Andrews and then one more major at Whistling Straits. Seriously, is there anyone else you'd take over this guy to get the job done on Monday? We're not quite ready to start engraving his name on the claret jug, but just a reminder to whoever has that job, it's "i" before "e" in Spieth.
