Texas Tech's T.J. Vasher goes full Odell Beckham Jr., makes catch of the year on team's opening drive

September 01, 2018

There's been plenty of great catches in both college football and the NFL since Odell Beckham's ridiculous snag against the Dallas Cowboys back in 2014, yet the consensus still seems to be that Odell's is the G.O.A.T. Texas Tech's T.J. Vasher may have changed that on Saturday against Ole Miss by doing his best OBJ impression on his team's opening drive at Houston's NRG Stadium.

Following a quick touchdown from Ole Miss, the Red Raiders looked to answer on their first possession, but faced a third and three at the Ole Miss 46-yard line. With pressure coming, Texas Tech QB McLane Carter scrambled away and threw up a prayer across his body down the right sideline for Vasher, who laid out and made an early submission for catch of the year less than 20 minutes into the 2018 season:

We're all guilty of exaggerating and crowning everything the GREATEST thing ever right after it happens, but this catch is that good. It looks almost identical to Beckham's, thus making it the catch of the year and one that will be extremely difficult to top. But hey, we do have a TON of season left. College football is BACK!
