Masters 2021: Steph Curry getting jealous of a reporter covering the Masters is all of us this week

Stephen Curry loves golf. Stephen Curry loves the Masters. Stephen Curry wishes he was at Augusta National this week.

Doesn’t everybody?

Of course, Curry is in the middle of his NBA season with the Golden State Warriors, who host the Washington Wizards in San Francisco on Friday night. Associated Press NBA writer Tim Reynolds, meanwhile, is pulling double duty, keeping up with his NBA responsibilities while also helping out what is a handful of AP reporters at the year’s first major.

And it was that colliding of worlds that set off a hilarious interaction between the writer and the NBA star on Masters eve.

“Steph, greetings from Augusta, where there’s a small tournament this weekend,” Reynolds began his Wednesday-night zoom interview with Curry.

What a dagger.

“You lucky little, you lucky little,” Curry responded, gritting his teeth, obviously jealous of Reynolds’ assignment.

Reynolds was self-deprecating in his response, though.

“I ain’t played it like some people so,” he said.

Touche. Curry, who has played in a couple of Korn Ferry Tour events in addition to having pegged it in a few friendly rounds at Augusta National, could only laugh because it’s true.

“I got you,” said Curry, who on Thursday morning also paid tribute to Lee Elder being an honorary starter this year.

Maybe so. But we’ll take the Masters and Augusta National over the NBA this week.
