St. Jude's hit: A half a million

The St. Jude's Classic next week will offer $500,000 less in prize money as a result of having lost its sponsor, Stanford Financial, according to published reports. Stanford Financial has been accused of operating a Ponzi scheme.

When the tournament commences on Thursday in Memphis, prize money will be $5.6 million, down from $6.1 million.
