Should we pay closer attention to Tadd Fujikawa?

July 25, 2009

Tadd Fujikawa recently graduated from high school, stands barely five-feet tall, and rarely rates a mention in any discussion of the great young players in golf. Are we being remiss?

Consider: In four PGA Tour starts this year, he's made the cut in three of them. In one, the Sony Open in Hawaii (in which he had to qualify, incidentally), he shot a 62 in the third round.

Now this: Entering the final round of the Nationwide Tour's Cox Classic Presented by Lexus of Omaha, Fujikawa stands at tied for sixth, 13-under par, two off the lead shared by Michael Sim and Jonas Blixt.

Fujikawa, incidentally, is gearing his game for a run at PGA Tour Qualifying this fall.
