Rory McIlroy falls, rises, walks on water
HAVEN, Wis -- One of the primary concerns regarding Rory McIlroy's return -- other than rushing the rehabilitation process -- was the terrain at Whistling Straits. Imagine walking up and down a flight of stairs for five hours, with incessant wind hurling at your side. That's traversing the Wisconsin confines to a T.
So when Rory got a tad rambunctious in his escape from a bunker...
...the media tent collectively wheezed. Seriously. The last time I heard reporters emit such an audible gasp was when the PA at Super Bowl XLVII announced the dinner line was closed halfway through the game.
Luckily for all involved, McIlroy dusted himself off to address his next shot...which proceeded to go into the water.
Yet, it turned out the ball was only partly submerged, leading to...
McIlroy would end up sinking the putt to save par.
